Academic Exchange about Norway Bridges


Mr. Borre Stensvold, Director of Bridge Section, Norwegian Public Roads Administration was invited to have a report by CCCC Highway Consultants CO., Ltd on the morning of May 9th. Topics were mainly about Norwegian costal highway projects, Hardanger Suspension Bridge as well as Norwegian Bridge Management.
Mr. Feng Maorun, the ex-chief engineer of the Ministry of Transport, Mr. Zhou Haitao, the chief engineer of the Ministry of Transport and about 40 bridge engineers were present at the meeting. After presentation, attendees discussed with Mr. Borre on the bridges and topics they were interested in.




Coastal Highway Route E39 is a ferry-free route from Kristiansand along the west coast all the way to Trondheim, if it is realised, will be the ‘moon landing’ project of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. Extensive new knowledge and a major commitment to development will be needed to design and construct the required extreme fjord crossings.
The Hardanger bridge project is placed on the west coast of Norway in the county of Hordaland.
As to bridge management policy in Norway, multiple aspects were introduced, which included operation, inspection, maintenance, reconstruction and strengthening.
In the afternoon, Mr. Borre had a report at Research Institute of Highway, MOT, China.


Then the next day, another report and academic exchange were organized by Beijing Municipal Road & Bridge Construction Holding (Group) Co., Ltd.
