As the longest immersed tube subsea tunnel with six lanes in the world, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will also be the longest sea-crossing road combined with bridge and tunnel.
The 76000-ton giant immersed tube known as “submarine” was successfully pushed to specified location of shallow basin area after a consecutive fortnight fighting by constructors in bridge prefabrication plant. It is known from workers that the "submarine" will be landing after dismantled of support lifting jack during March 21-22 and expected to launch a deep basin area after watered in the middle of next month.
The 6.7 km-long tunnel of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is by far the deepest buried and the largest underwater highway immersed tube in the world. According to introduction, the whole tunnel is divided into 33 sockets, the former two immersed tubes have been successfully pushed to the deep basin area, the ones in the third and fourth quarters were pushed to the shallow basin area on Saturday night and the fifth and sixth ones are casted in bridge prefabrication plant.
It will take 48 hours to push the tubes from prefabrication plant to shallow basin area. However, actually it took 14 days because of tough difficulties.
