Located in the northeastern part of Leizhou Peninsula of West Guandong, the Zhanjiang Bay Bridge is comprised of a cable-stayed main bridge and two side approach bridges, with a total length of 3.981km.The 28.5m-wide deck contains four traffic lanes or six traffic lanes in future, which are divided into dual directions.The mechanics behavior of the bridge is improved by the greatest extent via the adoption of the compounded deck system. Float and flexible steel anticollision devices are adopted to protect the towers and piers as well as the colliding ships and the anticollision devices themselves from the damage or destruction due to the ship collisions by energy dissipation.
