Wuhan Tianxingzhou Bridge, which was built by China Zhongtie Major Bridge Engineering Group Co Ltd (MBEC) , was awarded the George S. Richardson Medal of 27th International Bridge Conference (IBC). This is an award for a unique, recent, outstanding achievement.
The bridge is a railway-highway bridge across the Yangtze River in the northeastern part of Wuhan City, the capital of Hubei Province of China. The bridge’s name came from the Tianxing Island (Tianxingzhou) above which the bridge crosses. The 4,657-meter long cable suspension bridge was opened to traffic on December 26, 2009.
